The City Attorney is the chief legal advisor for all offices, departments and agencies and for all officers and employees of the City, in matters relating to their official powers and duties. He or she reports to, and serves at the pleasure of, the City Council. Reporting directly to the Mayor and City Council, the City Attorney is responsible for the executive leadership, direction and management for the City Attorney’s Office (Civil, Prosecution and Victim Services).

A Juris Doctorate degree, from an American Bar Association accredited college or university; a minimum of eight (8) years recent professional experience in the practice of law, to include managing other attorneys; current membership in good standing, with the Arizona State Bar Association required;
Eight (8) years of experience as a Full-Time in-house City Attorney, First Assistant City Attorney or Assistant City Attorney in an organization of similar size and service delivery as the City of Scottsdale, with experience supervising other attorneys;
Exceptional communications and presentation skills;
A record of participation and professional networking in legal associations as they benefit the City.
