- Deputy County Attorney V - Special Victim's Unit Prosecutor
Description
We have an opening for an experienced, victim focused, prosecutor to handle our SVU caseload. This is a demanding, but very rewarding, position that will challenge and hone your litigation skills. You will work closely with the criminal investigation divisions of our local law enforcement agencies to bring justice to our most vulnerable victims and their families.
At the Santa Cruz County Attorney’s Office uses a vertical prosecution model. We encourage our attorneys to focus on individualized justice. With no strict plea guidelines, our attorneys are able to use their discretion to weigh the best interests of our victims and community along with the needs of each defendant with a goal towards a better and safer life for our residents.
We believe that a healthy work-life balance is an essential ingredient to a long and rewarding career. We have manageable caseloads compared to what you will encounter in the larger counties in Arizona. We have developed an innovative telecommute schedule that allows for alternating Fridays off with generous telecommute time – just five office days per pay period, court docket-permitting. We also use Prosecutor by Karpel, which allows you to work just as easily from the comfort of your home as you can from our office. For in-office days, the drive from the Tucson area and elsewhere is scenic, the roads are lightly traveled, and carpools/commuter vehicles are available, with fuel costs covered.
Our office is the best kept secret in the State, with a family atmosphere that includes regular potlucks with our terrific staff, a central, home-style kitchen where fresh coffee is always brewing, the occasional lunch cookout, and fun events like group Halloween costumes and Christmas posadas. Santa Cruz County has a vibrant, family-oriented atmosphere with local culinary treasures. For those interested, we have opportunities for community outreach events with kids and activities such as walk/runs, so we can be engaged in the community where we serve justice.
We have a competitive pay scale for this position of $99,016 - $134,451 and we anticipate a starting pay within that scale of $105,000 - $134,451 depending on experience.
We have great benefits too, including a Blue Cross/Blue Shield health insurance plan and a pension plan through the Arizona State Retirement System, that features an optional 457 plan, including Roth options. We have a student loan payment reimbursement program. Rounding out our benefits package, and contributing to our focus on work-life balance, is our on-site, well-equipped FREE (to full-time employees) county gym and a fitness trail out back that winds towards the lovely mountain scenery. What a great way to reduce stress on your lunch hour.
We would love to talk with you about our office and your qualifications and interests to see if it might be a mutual fit. Please forward your resume to Mathew Cannon, Chief Deputy County Attorney, at mcannon@santacruzcountyaz.gov, and schedule a time for an initial chat via Zoom to discuss the job and your qualifications.
We look forward to meeting you!
