Coordinates activities related to the recruiting and hiring of lawyers (entry level and lateral) as well as the summer associate program for the west coast offices. Assists the Manager of Legal Recruiting and the Senior Director of Legal Personnel, Recruiting & Global Mobility on all matters related to legal hiring. Collaborates and works closely with other Legal Recruiting staff across offices on hiring initiatives.
Supports the entry level screening and callback interview process, including but not limited to, scheduling candidate interviews, preparing interview materials, researching candidate histories, tracking evaluations, submitting feedback forms and communicating with candidates.
Works closely with the Manager of Legal Recruiting to coordinate our diversity efforts and recruiting events, including building relationships with various school organizations and planning 1L events, callback events, hiring receptions, and offeree dinners.
Organizes department sponsored training and social events designed to market the firm to prospective candidates.
Coordinates on-campus events to market Ropes & Gray to prospective candidates.
Works closely with the Manger of Legal Recruiting to build relationships with law school career services offices, prospective candidates, and Ropes & Gray lawyers and staff.
Works with the Manager of Legal Recruiting to coordinate the summer program for the west coast, including but not limited to, planning orientation and summer events; tracking attendees and expenses; handling summer associate correspondence; gathering evaluations and reviews; participating in summer events, summer program meetings and firm wide summer program projects.
Assists with updates to the hiring web site and recruiting print materials. Collaborates with web editors to enhance the hiring web site for recruiting purposes.
Coordinates participation in surveys and sponsorship opportunities.
Assists with lateral associate hiring including but not limited to, interview scheduling, candidate tracking, integration, and interfacing with recruiters, internal clients and candidates.
Inputs and updates candidate information in a timely manner into the legal recruiting database (LawCruit) for recruiting and tracking purposes.
Assists with the preparation of recruiting reports and statistics.
Assists with new associate orientation.
Assists the firm wide attorney development and training initiatives, as needed.
Provides general support to the legal recruiting function including: processing check requests and paying invoices for department expenses; processing and tracking expenses; scheduling room reservations for interviews and meetings; and greeting candidates.
Performs additional duties as assigned by the Manager of Legal Recruiting and the Senior Director of Legal Personnel, Recruiting & Global Mobility.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Proficiency in the use of computer programs, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and database programs (e.g., LawCruit, Taleo).
Excellent written, oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
2+ years work experience in law firm or law school recruiting required.
Ability to recognize confidential information and to maintain confidentiality of such information.
Flexibility in responding quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities.
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of firm personnel.
Must be team-oriented and able to share information, goals, opportunities, successes and failures with the appropriate parties.
